Jaipur
It is Elephant Festival time and about 150 elephants are assembled to march through the city together with all sorts of other acts. What an amazing experience!
Jaipur
Stayed in a delightful Rajashani hotel "Madhuban". The hotel and the staff were beautifully decked out.
Jaipur
We arrived just before the Hindu Festival of Holi or the Festival of colours. This is when fun seekers through water and coloured powder over any one and everything.
Jaipur-Rajasthan.
Entering the old city gates. This is where the principal shopping centre is located namely, Johari Bazaar.
Jaipur-Rajasthan.
Off to Jaipur! We knew we were getting closer to the desert as we noticed more and more camels on the road.It is known as the "pink" city and amongst other things is known for it's gemstones and silver jewellery.
Agra
Shoes have to be covered to protect the marble due to the wear and tear of the many visitors to the Taj.
Agra
Up early and off to the Taj Mahal. Words to desribe this magnificent building can not do it justice. It is kept in pristine condition and is more beautiful than you can imagine.
Agra
Visiting the Taj Mahal on a Friday is not a good idea as it is closed to the public for maintenance. However,we were tipped off to go to the "other" side on the banks of the Yamuna River at sunset and witness the changing colours of the marble.
This was a traveler's dream come true..to see, at last, this magnificent monument.
Agra
Agra, too has a Red Fort. It is built of red sandstone on the banks of the Yamuna River in 1565.

Delhi Railway station.
It is time to set off for Agra and we are going to use the Railway System.
"It is better to be safe than sorry" is this fellow's motto as he offers to sell you one of his very strong chains to secure your suitcase under your seat, should you go off wondering during your train trip.
Delhi
Unfortunately the mosque was closed for prayers but that did not stop a mother giving the kids a good wash!
Delhi
Much of the marble has been inlaid with precious stones , many of which were looted in 1857 during the Indian uprisings.
Delhi.
The inlay work and filigree carvings are wonderful. The attention to detail is really amazing.
Delhi
The Red Fort.
The main fort gate takes it's name from the fact it faces towards Lahore, Pakistan.
India 151
With a population of 12.8 million and temperatures in the mid thirties sometimes you just need to find a spot and have a nap.

Delhi, Connaught Place.
Despite all the warnings of "Delhi Belly" who could resist the lovely smell of fried potatoes mmmmmmm they were delicious! (and no after effects.)
INDIA
Incredible India, fab India, amazing, exciting, at last we are off to visit this country we have heard so much about! A country which is so diverse and with so much to intrigue and fascinate the tourist. It was a challenge to choose the route to take and Warren spent many hours planning organising our trip and soon we were off!
